Short description of the thesis

Situated between performance studies and trans studies, the dissertation explores trans togetherness, solidarity, and trans-separatist analytical engagements through analysis of contemporary trans artistic production. The project develops a trans-situated and trans-solidaric approach to analyzing trans artistic production: a t4t reading. An analytical and ethical-political framework grounded in trans-embodied knowledge, accountability to trans solidarity, and a commitment to increased possibilities for trans life. Overall, the dissertation argues that art plays a vital role in imagining and practicing trans life. It proposes a turn toward trans communality guided by t4t as a strategic trans-separatist and solidaric affinity: a commitment to practicing and honoring trans knowledges and communality, motivated by a will to imagine and create trans life beyond the terms of the present.
