How to apply

The PhD School at The Faculty of Humanities welcomes applicants from all over the world. We currently receive approximately 700 applications a year from Denmark and abroad and enrol about 70 applicants as PhD students. About 25% of these are international students.

Over the last couple of years, the number of applicants as well as the number of enrolments has increased. Thus, to guarantee the quality of the PhD education and ensure enrolment of only the candidates with the strongest potential, the faculty has a rather strict recruitment policy. Therefore, the requirements for the PhD proposals are very high, and the faculty expects the proposals to be very carefully prepared.

However, once succesful, applicants are guaranteed the fee for enrolment in the faculty’s PhD programme, an office at the faculty, coverage of reasonable expenses for travels, courses, conference participation etc. up to 35.000 DKK, and a salary that covers living expenses at a moderate level.

Thus, in order to become succesful, we strongly encourage potential applicants to read the pages on requirements and qualifications as well as the page on the application procedure, research proposal guidelines and types of scholarships through thoroughly before applying for a PhD scholarship.
