For international PhD applicants

The PhD School at the Faculty of Humanities welcomes applicants from all over the world. On this page we have gathered information that is particularly relevant for international applicants applying for a PhD Scholarship at the Faculty of Humanities and for international PhD Students enrolled here.

First of all, it is important that interested international applicants read about the application requirements, application procedure, types of scholarships and current PhD calls in the section How to become a PhD student

Second, in order to familiarize yourself with the possibilities and requirements for enrolled PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities, both international applicants and already enrolled international PhD students are welcome to explore the section What does it mean to be a PhD student.

Thirdly, we encourage you to study the websites with relevant information for international students and staff provided by the University of Copenhagen (See the box on the right). We hope that you will find this helpful as it will give you tips on how to handle different practicalities such as residence permits, taxes, creating a bank account etc., but it will also give you a better idea of what studying at the University of Copenhagen is like for international students.

Finally, once enrolled, we warmly welcome you and encourage you to become an active part of the academic as well as social life at the Faculty of Humanities. If you have any questions upon enrolment regarding bureaucratic matters, housing, bank account, insurance, tax, culture etc, please do not hesitate to contact the PhD Administration at HR South and City Campuses (phd@hrsc.ku.dk), who deals with the international PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities.
